Board filters

Find your work in a click, no JQL

Seeing your slice of a big Jira board shouldn’t take JQL or an admin’s quick filter. Dropdown filters sit right on the board and backlog: pick assignee, epic, version or any field, save it privately, and it’s still there tomorrow.

Planning prep

Come to planning prepared

Planning sessions burn on hunting, not deciding. One-click panel filters (Uncompleted, Unestimated, Empty, Completed) surface the Epics and Versions that need attention. Prepare and save them before the session, and share the filtered board by URL so everyone sees the same slice.

Flow and WIP

Set WIP limits where flow breaks

Native column constraints stop at single columns, but real workflow stages span several. Column Groups map statuses to stages or team lanes, and one shared WIP limit watches the whole stage, turning red the moment it overflows. All on the Kanban and Scrum boards you already use.

FAQ

Requirements, licensing, data, and limits

  • Is there a cloud version of the app?

Covered on Data Center today, and on Cloud next. Atlassian has moved Jira Data Center to security and critical fixes only, so DC 11 adds no new board features. That is exactly where Agile Tools & Filters helps: your teams upgrade the boards they use every day now, without waiting on the platform. Existing Data Center customers can buy and expand app licenses through March 30, 2028, and 30-day trials and renewals continue as usual. And when your teams move to Cloud, they will not start over; we are building the Cloud version of Agile Tools & Filters, so the way your teams plan and track work comes with them.

  • What is the pricing for the app?

Agile Tools & Filters adds 2–4% to a Jira Data Center bill, and touches every team, every day. Per-seat cost falls steeply with tier. And because Data Center renewals are annual-only, every app is re-justified yearly: daily-use surfaces survive that scrutiny; shelf-ware doesn’t. See current pricing by tier on the Atlassian Marketplace.

  • Does the app cover our Jira Service Management projects?

It needs Jira Software. Our filters attach to Jira Software boards and backlogs, so the app cannot be enabled on an instance that runs only Jira Service Management. It adds nothing to service project queues or the customer portal.

  • Do we pay for every Jira user, even if only a few teams use the filters?

Yes. The app is licensed at the same user tier as your Jira Software Data Center license. That covers every user on that license, including teams that do not filter boards today. There is no per-team or per-board option, and any team can start using it later without a new purchase.

  • Where are our saved filters stored?

In your own Jira database. The app keeps saved filters in a table there, named AO_JIRA_USER_FILTERS, so your filter setup stays inside your Jira instance.

  • Can we turn off the app's usage reporting?

Yes. A Jira administrator can switch it off from Jira's Analytics Configuration screen, which lives on your own Jira instance. The control sits with your administrators, not with us.

  • Is there a limit on how many issues a filter can return?

Jira limits search results to 1,000 items by default, not the app. If a filter matches more, the app shows a message and you narrow the filter. Your Jira administrator can also raise that limit with the jira.search.views.default.max property.
